Bulk Delivery Rate Sinks to Lowest Mark

Reports indicate that the global shipbuilding market is facing rough weather as new-build deliveries fall behind schedule.

According to shipping solutions provider Clarksons, in September, new-build bulker delivery reached 36%, the lowest level so far this year.

Cumulative delivery rate in the period between January and September 2009 came to 54%.

September deliveries were set to surpass those of August by 73%, but figures in the report indicated that they were well below the August figure.

Bulker delivery rate hit the lowest level among the big three ship types in September but containership delivery rates were also much lower than expected.
