Hyderabad Metro in India secures safety approval

Trains will now be cleared to operate from Nagole to Miyapur station following the approval, which covers the section from Mettuguda to SR Nagar via Ameerpet Interchange Metro Station.

The authorities provided the safety approval after inspecting the metro rail network’s civil works, track, viaduct, stations, signalling and train controls, telecommunication, rolling stock and other associated railway systems.

Speed trials were also conducted on the metro train for a three-day period during the inspection initiative.

L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (LTMRHL), which was responsible for building the elevated metro rail project in the city, will now also complete the remaining minor works on the line.

LTMRHL managing director and CEO Shivanand Nimbargi said: “CMRS approval for the Stage 1 – Nagole to Mettuguda and Stage 2 – Miyapur to SR Nagar have already been authorised for commissioning.

“This is a great moment for team LTMRHL and its partners, who have worked incessantly to make this happen.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the metro project’s 30km-long first phase next week.

Construction of the project originally started in July 2012 and was expected to be completed by June this year.

However, land acquisition and other issues delayed the completion of the metro rail project, reported PTI.
