The opening of the two bridges forms part of the improvement project of Sheikh Rashid-Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Streets intersection.
The first bridge, comprising two lanes in each direction, is on the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, while the one-lane second bridge connects Zabeel Street to the direction of Sheikh Rashid Street.
RTA Board of Executive Directors director-general and chairman Mattar Al Tayer said: “The intersection of Sheikh Rashid and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Streets is a key part of a big project for improving Al Shandagha roads network.
“The project is located at the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street in the direction of the northern end of Al Shandagha Network, and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street in the direction of the intersection with Al Kuwait Street.
“The project is part of RTA’s master plan for the improvement of roads, bridges, crossings and underpasses to accommodate the growing traffic volumes, and ease the traffic movement in all parts of Dubai.”
The scope of the project also included building a tunnel on Sheikh Rashid Street.
The tunnel is expected to be opened in both directions in the second quarter of this year.
Sheikh Rashid-Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Streets Intersection project construction is concurrent with the opening of the improvement of Wafi Intersection project in April 2016.
