Under the contract, the company will be responsible for maintaining 109 traffic signal junctions, 174 pedestrian crossings and eight journey time monitoring cameras.

The company secured the renewed £2m contract through a competitive tendering process. telent traffic business development manager Rob Conlon stated: “This contract builds on our existing relationship with Sandwell Council and we are looking forward to continuing to work closely with them and build on our already excellent relationship.”
The deal marks the third contract win for telent’s traffic business this year, following two contracts from Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Oxfordshire County Council. The company secured a four-year contract to supply and maintain traffic signal and related intelligent transport systems (ITS) equipment for Stoke-on-Trent City Council. In February, telent won the five-year Oxfordshire County Council contract to supply, install and maintain signalling equipment and associated ITS on-street solutions across the county.
